Hemingway

The couple was arguing about an abortion. Clearly Jig was worried about it and brought it up frequently. I felt as if she needed the man to tell her it was going to be okay so that she would feel more justified. The man seems as if he is not strong enough to deal with the thought of a child coming in to the picture. Jig is going through with the abortion because it helps her hold on to hope that their relationship will be the same as it previously was.

I think one of us misunderstood the poem, specially me. i thought the woman didn't want to go through abortion because she was afraid the things will not remind the same. But according to your respond to the poem you are saying that the abortion will help her.... I don't know in which way. She really doesn't like the idea so at the end of the poem she is begging the man to stop talking.

I think the woman will only willingly have the abortion if she is positive that it will benefit her relationship. She is not into the idea of giving up her child but will for the good of the relationship.
